Maine the Way, a curated collection of timeless stories, has featured a number of South Portland trails and properties in their latest blog post: Daytrip to South Portland—part of a daytrip series written for their website.
This scenic daytrip took place during one of Maine’s shoulder months—a beautiful, blue-sky day in early April. The daytrippers from Maine the Way hopped on their bikes and headed over the Casco Bay Bridge to the Greenbelt, where they rode towards the beach and stopped to get coffee at Omi’s and to-go lunch at Taco Trio. They rode their bikes to our two lighthouses (Spring Point and Bug Light) and enjoyed the view into Portland.
They finished their day in South Portland with a trip to Red’s for ice cream (with sprinkles, of course!) and Cafe Louis in Knightville before heading back over the bridge into Portland.

If you’re interested in biking the Greenbelt, be sure to stay tuned for the SPLT’s bike event happening at SpringFest ‘22 this May. We’re working with two local bike companies to offer pedal and ebike rentals from our SPLT building in Mill Creek, located on the Greenbelt!
