South Portland Land Trust Develops Resource Guides
The South Portland Land Trust is pleased to announce the development of two resource guides available to the public, volunteers and anyone interested in enjoying and getting a better understanding of their natural surroundings.
The guides are available to download free of charge from the SPLT website (www.southportlandlandtrust.org):
• A GUIDE TO 10+ MINDFUL WAYS TO ENJOY NATURE - This guide provides ideas, tools and links to a variety of resources to help get true satisfaction from your time outside, whether in a park, on a trail, climbing a mountain or just sitting in your own back yard. It includes ideas that are good for individuals,
children, families and groups.
• A NATURALIST RESOURCE GUIDE - A naturalist is someone who takes a holistic approach to observing and learning about nature. The purpose of this guide is to provide information for the lay person and to link them to resources that will help them learn about the creatures and systems that make up our world. Or, if someone just wants to know more about birds or mushrooms, for example, it’s good for that too. It also includes information about ways to get involved with local and state organizations focused on environmental issues, including climate change.
“The South Portland Land Trust is very pleased to be able to offer these resource guides as part of our educational programming,” states SPLT Board President Tex Haeuser. “ For those people that visit the
Land Trust’s trails and preserves, they help provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of our natural environment. They are also good tools to help people understand the steps they can take as individuals to protect the environment and take action against climate change.”
